Sam Wood refused bail after police allege the former Bachelor star choked his wife
Sam Wood was refused bail on Thursday after police alleged in court that he choked his wife until she thought she would die, the Guardian, the AFR, the ABC, the Herald and The Age reported. He was arrested after an incident in Noosa on Saturday night and is charged with strangulation in a domestic setting and assault occasioning bodily harm, according to The New Daily and The Nightly. His lawyer says the charges will be defended. The 28 fitness business has ended his role.
It is a high-profile test of how courts treat strangulation allegations, which Queensland made a separate offence in 2016.
