Hurricane Isaias becomes a Category 3 storm as it nears Florida and Alabama
Bloomberg reported that Hurricane Isaias reached Category 3 as it neared Florida and Alabama. Reuters said earlier that the US Gulf Coast was preparing for landfall as the storm strengthened. We did not have a landfall time.
A major hurricane on the Gulf Coast can disrupt oil, gas and shipping facilities there, on top of the damage on land.
No direct effect in Australia, though Gulf energy disruption would feed into world fuel prices.
Watch for landfall and any shut-in of Gulf of Mexico oil output.
