Piastri misses a podium after last-lap crash with McLaren teammate Norris in the Singapore sprint

Oscar Piastri missed a podium finish in the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday when McLaren teammate Lando Norris collided with him on the final lap, the Herald, Nine, Fox Sports and Formula 1’s own website reported. Max Verstappen won the sprint, The Race said. McLaren, running fourth and fifth going into the last lap, ended with an eighth place and a car that did not finish, according to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf. PlanetF1 reported that the FIA, motorsport’s governing body, launched an investigation, and Motorsport.com said Norris was summoned. Norris said “it was a big gap, so I went for it”.

A collision between two teammates costs the team points and fuels tension over who leads McLaren, with the championship race still open.

If you follow Piastri, the main race is today; watch for any penalty from the investigation before the grid is set.

Racing incidents happen, and Norris reportedly apologised afterwards.

A last-lap move on a teammate was avoidable, and McLaren will want an explanation.

Watch the stewards’ decision and whether McLaren changes its team orders before Sunday’s race.
