Missing Melbourne hiker Jordan Yap found dead in Peru
Jordan Yap, a Melbourne man missing for weeks after he failed to return from a solo hike in a remote part of Peru, was found dead, his family and Peruvian authorities confirmed, the Guardian, ABC, the Herald, The Age and 7NEWS reported. The Herald said tributes flowed after the family confirmed he died during a solo trek through the Huayhuash range. The Guardian quoted his family and friends saying he should be remembered for the “immense joy he brought to so many people’s lives”. We did not see the cause of death.
His death is another reminder of the risks of solo trekking in remote high-altitude terrain, where help can be days away.
