Ontario halts OSAP funding for private career colleges, leaving students stranded

Ontario has frozen OSAP student aid for all private career colleges while concerns about payments are investigated. The province referred those concerns to the OPP on Tuesday, according to the Toronto Star, and the Ontario Liberals have called for a value-for-money audit, CTV News reported. CBC says students are stranded; critics told the Star the freeze is unfair, because the province can't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Students rely on OSAP to pay for programs already under way.

If you attend a private career college, ask the school how your aid will be handled.

Watch whether the province exempts students already enrolled.
