Stephen Jarislowsky, Canada's investing patriarch, dies at 101
Stephen Jarislowsky died at 101, The Globe and Mail, Radio-Canada and Le Devoir reported on Thursday. The Globe called him a patriot and the Leonardo da Vinci of Canadian business, and a crusader for ethical business practices. He founded the Montreal investment firm that bears his name.
He was one of the country's best-known voices on corporate governance, and was often quoted when boards or executives came under fire.
No practical effect; expect tributes this week.
His legacy is the idea that investors should hold boards to account, a stance that is now mainstream.
