Reuters also reported that Ukrainian negotiators will visit the U.S. on Friday and that envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are to meet them, citing a U.S. source. Politico carried Mr. Rubio's remark.
When Washington and Moscow use the same word, it can signal either an opening for talks or pressure on Kyiv to accept less.
Canada is a major supporter of Ukraine, and any deal shape affects its aid and its sanctions policy.
Today's meeting is the test. Look for any ceasefire language and for Kyiv's own statement afterward.
