Smith rules out a second separation vote if Albertans choose to stay
Premier Danielle Smith said "not as long as I'm premier" when asked about a second separation referendum if Albertans vote to remain, CBC reported. The Globe and Mail reported that, with the Alberta referendum approaching, nine other ballot questions are drawing attention. We did not see the referendum date or the exact wording in the reports we read.
A premier ruling out a repeat vote tries to reduce the uncertainty that a referendum creates for investors and for the federal government.
For Albertans, the ballot has more than one question; for the rest of Canada, the outcome affects national unity debates.
Check the exact wording of each ballot question and the official date once Elections Alberta confirms them.
