B.C. Premier David Eby asks the Conservatives to remove their campaign director over anti-Islam posts

CBC reported that the B.C. Conservatives' campaign director was under fire for anti-Islam posts. The Globe and Mail then reported that Premier David Eby asked the party's interim leader to remove the director. The outlets agree on the outline. We did not see the posts, their dates, any reply from the director or the party, or reactions from Muslim organizations.

Mr. Eby is the New Democratic Party premier, so his demand is also a political move against the main opposition party at a time when it has no permanent leader. How the interim leader responds will show how the party handles pressure from outside.

This is a B.C. story with no direct effect on daily life. It matters if you follow provincial politics, or if you want to see how parties respond when staff posts become a story.

Posts that target a faith community are unacceptable from anyone running a party's campaign, and a premier is right to say so.

Party staffing is a party's business, and a premier demanding a dismissal is playing politics. We have not seen the party's reply.

Two things settle this: whether the interim leader acts, and what the posts actually say. Until both are public, the strongest claim the evidence supports is that two outlets report a demand and a controversy.
