TMX Group said the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange and Montréal Exchange are closed on Monday for Thanksgiving and reopen on Tuesday. Friday's S&P/TSX Composite close was 35,664.62 (+1.48%) per DailyDrop's quote feed, with CP and Yahoo Finance reporting a gain of more than 500 points. USD/CAD's Friday close could not be confirmed from a second source. The S&P 500 rose 0.59% to 7,811.54, the Nasdaq 0.64% to 27,366.17 and the Dow 0.83% to 51,654.95. WTI was US$91.85 (+0.39%) and gold US$4,216.3 (+1.43%). U.S. stocks trade Monday; the U.S. bond market is closed.

With the TSX shut, Canadian investors cannot react to weekend news until Tuesday, so moves in oil and U.S. stocks on Monday will show up in one gap.

Nothing to do on Monday if you invest only in Canadian-listed stocks. Prices for energy shares may move Tuesday.

Watch crude on Monday: it is the best guide for Tuesday's TSX open.
