B.C. leaders clash over health care, finances and DRIPA in the only televised debate
NDP Leader David Eby, interim Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson and Green Leader Emily Lowan met on Wednesday evening in the only televised debate of B.C.’s snap election, the Globe and Mail, CBC, Global News, the Vancouver Sun and Castanet reported. The Globe said they clashed over health care, the province’s finances and DRIPA, and that the election is on Oct. 24. The Vancouver Sun described a sparring match over economic vision, and CBC said the leaders discussed the province’s deficit. Global News reported that the NDP’s election costings would see the deficit fall to $12 billion in two years; that figure comes from one outlet.
With one debate and a short campaign, voters have had little time to compare the parties’ plans on spending and Indigenous rights.
If you live in B.C., read the parties’ costings before Oct. 24.
The deficit and DRIPA were the sharpest points. Watch for how the parties explain the $12-billion figure, which we saw only once.
