A Royal Navy sailor is charged with spying for a foreign power. A seventh man is bailed over Fairford, and two Latvians are held at an RAF base

Teddy Young, 24, a Royal Navy service member from Bedfordshire, is charged with two offences under the National Security Act 2023: obtaining protected information that could benefit a foreign power, and preparing to disclose it. Police say the offences took place between 26 November 2024 and 21 May 2025 and that the case is not linked to the Fairford inquiry. He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court. The BBC and Sky News reported the seventh arrested man over the Fairford incident has been bailed. Two Latvian nationals were arrested on suspicion of trespass at an RAF base in Cambridgeshire used by the US military.

Three security stories in a week show the pressure on British bases and on the services that guard them. They are separate cases and should not be assumed to be linked.

No change to public advice.

Keep the cases apart. The test is charges, not arrests.
