Almost half a million workers are set for a pay rise as the Real Living Wage goes up
The Mirror reported that almost half a million workers are set for a pay rise as the Real Living Wage goes up. The Evening Standard published two pieces on the same news, one on the new hourly rates and one on the London figure. The headlines we saw did not give the rates themselves, so we do not quote them.
The Real Living Wage is a voluntary rate that accredited employers pay, and it is higher than the legal minimum. When it rises, so does the pressure on other employers.
If your employer is accredited, ask whether and when the new rate applies to you.
Check the figure from the Living Wage Foundation itself rather than from a headline, because the rates differ between London and the rest of the UK.
