The euro starts October close to its weakest level this year against the dollar

DailyForex said EUR/USD closed September near 1.1335, down about 2.4% on the month, and opened October near its annual low of 1.1311. RoboForex quoted 1.1256 on 2 October. Mitrade showed the dollar up about 1.07% against the euro on the week. The levels differ between sources, and Monday's close was not confirmed.

The euro-dollar rate sets the price of oil in euros and the value of Irish exports to the US.

US holidays and online purchases in dollars cost more. Exporters selling to the US earn more in euro terms.

A weaker euro helps Irish exporters and tourism-linked income.

It raises import costs, including energy, at a time when inflation is already high.

Levels differ by source, so treat the exact number with care. The direction, a stronger dollar, is consistent.
