Irish services growth slows to 54.1 in September while factories hold at 55.5
The AIB Ireland Services PMI was 54.1 in September against 55.4 in August (Newsquawk). The AIB Manufacturing PMI edged up to 55.5 from 55.4 (Trading Economics). Both are above the 50 line that separates growth from contraction. August's services reading had been the highest since November 2025. The services figure rests on one listing.
PMIs are an early read on the economy before official data arrives, and they show whether firms are hiring and investing.
Strong factory and services activity points to steady jobs, though high energy costs are a risk for businesses.
Both readings are comfortably above 50, which suggests the economy is resilient despite high prices.
A slowdown in services, the larger sector, is a reminder that cost pressures may be starting to bite.
One down-tick is not a trend. Look for the October readings, after the budget.
