Pope Leo is eating normally and walking after lung cancer surgery
The Guardian reported on Wednesday that doctors said Pope Leo's recovery from a lung cancer operation is progressing as planned, that he has begun walking in his hospital room and is eating normally after the operation to remove a growth. Reuters reported he had a peaceful night in hospital, and the Irish Star carried the same signs of recovery. Earlier reports said the Vatican announced the diagnosis as doctors removed part of a lung.
The health of the head of the Catholic Church matters to some 1.4 billion Catholics, and to the Church's planning for the months ahead.
For Irish Catholics it is a moment of concern and good wishes. No change to the Church's schedule was reported in the items seen.
