At least 12 Indian sailors hurt in attacks on ships in the Black Sea and Hormuz. MEA says targeting of commercial shipping must end
India condemned attacks on commercial shipping after Indian seafarers were injured. The Hindu reports 11 Indian crew injured when a ship was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz; The Indian Express counts at least 12 injured in attacks in the Black Sea and Hormuz, and reports one person killed in a strike on a Turkish vessel with Indian crew. The MEA said the targeting of commercial shipping must end.
Indian seafarers are exposed to two wars at once, in waters where India has little ability to protect them.
Families of seafarers should keep the recruiting agency and the DG Shipping helpline handy.
Watch whether the MEA names a perpetrator, and whether DG Shipping issues advisories on Gulf and Black Sea sailings.
