Messi plays his last match for Argentina: 'I don't want to leave. Not being with Argentina hurts'
Messi played his last match for Argentina in a farewell friendly against Benin, which Argentina won. He said he did not want to leave. The Indian Express notes he ends as the second highest scorer in international football. Ronaldo praised him. Separately Ronaldo deferred his own retirement and wants an apology from his coach.
A generation of footballers is leaving the international stage.
Nothing practical; fans of the game mark a date.
