Houthi strike kills three at Riyadh airport; Iran says it hit a tanker beyond Hormuz

Saudi aviation authorities said three people were killed in attacks on Riyadh airport, which the Houthis claimed (Reuters, AP). The EU aviation body widened its Saudi airspace warning (Reuters), and flights to and from Riyadh remain disrupted (The Hindu). Iran said it hit an LPG tanker, the NV Sunshine, taking an 'illegal route' through Hormuz (Mint), and the Financial Times reports Iranian attacks on tankers beyond the strait. Trump said the US took 28 million barrels of oil out of Hormuz (a single wire report).

Gulf airspace and shipping set Indian air fares, fuel prices and the import bill, and a large Indian community works in Saudi Arabia.

Check with your airline before flying to or via Saudi Arabia, and follow the Indian Embassy's advisories. Expect higher fares.

Airline fuel surcharges and tanker insurance are early signs of an oil shock. Watch them before the pump price.
