Election Commission caps Form 7 objections at 10 per voter

The Election Commission of India limited Form 7 applications to 10 per elector during the claims-and-objections period of the Special Intensive Revision, after bulk filings (Hindustan Times, The Hindu). Hindustan Times says Karnataka received 1.1 lakh (110,000) Form 7 objections, and The Hindu says they rose by 19,376 in four days. The Karnataka High Court stayed a probe into FIRs against two BJP booth-level agents in the Form 7 row (The Hindu).

Form 7 is used to object to a name on the voter list. Mass filings can remove genuine voters, which is the opposition's main charge.

Check that your name is on the electoral roll for your state, and file Form 6 if it is missing.

A cap limits abuse but does not prove past filings were genuine. Watch how many objections are upheld.
