Nine killed as Naga-Kuki clashes flare across three Manipur districts in 24 hours

Hindustan Times reports nine people killed in separate incidents across three Manipur districts within 24 hours, while The Hindu's earlier count was at least five. A woman was shot dead in Kamjong and prohibitory orders were imposed (The Hindu, The Times of India), and Hindustan Times reports a Kuki woman killed in crossfire near Chassad. Manipur's Chief Minister met Prime Minister Modi and said he wants to advance peace (NDTV, ThePrint).

Renewed killing between Naga and Kuki groups widens a conflict that began as Meitei-Kuki violence, and tests the state's ability to keep order.

No direct effect outside the state. Travel in the affected districts is restricted.
