Friday's closes: Nifty +1.3 per cent, rupee 96.73, Wall Street higher, gold up 1.4 per cent
The Nifty 50 closed at 22,520.45 on Friday, up 1.30 per cent; the NSE and BSE are shut until Monday. The rupee ended at 96.73 to the dollar (down 0.05 per cent on 10 October). On Wall Street the S&P 500 rose 0.59 per cent to 7,811.54, the Nasdaq 0.64 per cent to 27,366.17 and the Dow 0.83 per cent to 51,654.95. The 10-year US yield was 5.244 per cent. Friday's global gains and oil near $92 set the tone when Indian exchanges reopen on Monday.
A rupee near 96.7 and crude near $92 keep imports, overseas fees and air tickets costly.
The RBI's dollar window for oil companies, from Monday, is the first thing to watch for the rupee.
