Houthi strike on Riyadh's King Khalid airport kills 12 and wounds over 300; Trump says US "may" join Saudi retaliation
Saudi authorities said a Saturday attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 12 people and wounded more than 300 (AP, DW). The Saudi-led coalition said Yemen's Houthis were responsible and called it a war crime (FinancialJuice). Trump called it a terrible thing and said the US may join Saudi strikes on the Houthis (Economic Times, Mint), and Secretary of State Rubio said an American was killed. UN Secretary-General Guterres condemned the attack. Reuters says major Saudi conferences will go ahead; The Hindu says Kochi-Saudi flights remain disrupted.
An attack on a major airport is a serious escalation in the Gulf, close to oil routes that India depends on. India has a large diaspora in Saudi Arabia.
If you have family or travel plans in Saudi Arabia, check flight status. Oil near $92 keeps fuel costs under watch.
Casualty figures are Saudi authorities' and may change. A US strike on the Houthis would be the real escalation to watch.
