Wangchuk threatens a fast or a march if detainees are not freed
Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk warned of an anshan (fast) or a padyatra (march) if leaders detained in Delhi were not released by Sunday, Hindustan Times, Mint, the Economic Times, The Times of India and NDTV reported. Mint quotes him calling the crackdown an "undeclared emergency". The Hindu reports that on Sunday he warned of a fresh protest if the detained people are not freed.
Wangchuk has a national following from earlier protests over Ladakh, and his involvement could widen the protest beyond Delhi.
No direct effect; watch for a new protest site if he acts.
The deadline falls today. A fast would add a second front for the government at a time when most detained leaders have already been released.
