Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight diverted to Hyderabad after a power bank fire

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad after smoke and fire were reported from an electronic device, and it landed safely (The Hindu, Hindustan Times). Mint and The Economic Times say a passenger's power bank caught fire mid-air.

Lithium batteries can overheat, and a fire at altitude is a serious risk. Airlines regularly tell passengers how to carry them.

Carry power banks in hand baggage, never in checked bags, and follow your airline's rules on using them in flight.

The cause is as reported by outlets; we have not seen an official finding.
