Four killed in an IED blast on the Pakistani side of the LoC in Poonch; Army defuses two landmines

A blast near the Line of Control in Poonch killed at least four people from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mint reports. The Hindu says it was a powerful blast reported in the Satwal-Naki area near the zero line, as a group moved on the Pakistan side. Hindustan Times reports a suspected IED blast and terrorist deaths. Mint adds that Indian troops separately found and defused two landmines in Mendhar, and security was heightened.

Incidents along the LoC test the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan and raise the alert level for border villages.

Residents of border districts may see tighter movement checks. Elsewhere there is no effect.

Officials point to infiltration attempts as the reason for vigilance.

Details of who the victims were differ by outlet and have not been officially confirmed.

Treat the casualty descriptions as provisional until the Army or police issue a statement.
