CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke gets conditional bail after arrest over a Delhi tiranga rally

Business Today, Gulf News, Outlook India and Newsdrum reported that Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, was granted conditional bail by a Delhi court on Saturday, October 17. He had been arrested in connection with the party's 'Lehra Do Tiranga' rally at Central Park in Connaught Place. The Special Executive Magistrate court at Mandir Marg directed him to furnish a peace bond under Section 126 of the BNSS, and he was released after signing it. One report says he was detained on October 16 ahead of the rally, days after an October 10 airport detention in which he had signed a bond not to disturb public peace for one year. Dipke said the party would not back down. The protests demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter roll irregularities linked to the SIR.

A peace bond lets a magistrate bind a person to good behaviour without a trial, so Dipke's release comes with conditions attached. Because he had already signed one bond on October 10, the new one raises the stakes if the party calls another rally.

If you plan to attend a protest in Delhi, check the permission and the route announced by the organisers and the police beforehand, and keep your identity papers with you.

Dipke's view, as reported by Outlook India: the party will not be intimidated by what he called illegal arrests and detentions and will not back down.

The official view, as reported: a senior police officer told PTI that he was released after giving an assurance through a peace bond, and the court set the condition under Section 126 of the BNSS.

Confirmed by four outlets are the conditional bail, the peace bond under Section 126 and the release on October 17. Not confirmed are the full conditions set by the court. Watch today for the party's next rally and for any further police action.
