Trump says Russia will supply 4.8 million tonnes of diesel as the US suspends sanctions on Russian fuel

Trump announced after a call with Putin that Russia would supply about 4.8 million tonnes of diesel (MercoPress, Fox11, TRT World). He wrote on Truth Social that more than 300,000 tons would be supplied immediately. Treasury suspended sanctions on Russian diesel until April 2027. Kremlin envoy Dmitriev praised it. The White House did not say who would pay or when shipments would arrive, and Russian confirmation was initially unavailable.

Russia is a big diesel exporter, and the US moved from pressure to cooperation. It could ease global diesel prices but weaken the sanctions regime.

Diesel prices in Malaysia follow global benchmarks and subsidy policy. No effect has been estimated, and the Budget did not change RON95 prices as far as DailyDrop saw.

Supporters say more supply lowers fuel prices for consumers.

Critics say it rewards Moscow while it attacks Ukraine.

Watch Brent on Monday and whether Russia confirms the volumes. Trump’s figures are his own claims until shipments are seen.
