Houthi strike on Riyadh airport kills 12 and injures more than 300, Saudi authorities say
Saudi authorities put the toll from a Houthi strike on Riyadh airport on Saturday at 12 dead and more than 300 injured (FT, NYT, Mirror). The Straits Times reported a loud blast and cancellations. Earlier in the week, strikes on Riyadh and Abha airports killed three, including a Saudia captain, and the Houthis claimed them (Al Jazeera, Euronews). Lufthansa Group suspended Riyadh flights to 16 October.
Saudi airports carry many Malaysian pilgrims and workers, and the Gulf matters for oil. Attacks on Saudi airports raise the risk of wider escalation in the region.
If you or family travel via Riyadh, check with the airline and Wisma Putra advisories.
The coalition says it is destroying launch sites.
The Houthis say they are responding to attacks on Yemen.
The toll is a Saudi figure carried by the press that DailyDrop could not verify in its own searches. Treat it as provisional.
