Selangor government and Bersatu reported close to a deal on a bigger Bersatu role
Malaysiakini reported, quoting a Bersatu representative, that the Selangor government and Bersatu were nearing a deal on a greater role for the party in state affairs. FMT, in English and Malay, reported that Bersatu assemblymen were told they could quit if they disagreed with the Selangor pact. Neither headline says who told them, what the pact contains or how the party’s other leaders view it, and DailyDrop saw no statement from the state government.
A deal between a state government and a party outside its coalition would shift the balance of Selangor politics, the country’s richest state, ahead of the next election.
No immediate effect on services. Watch for any change in who sits on state councils.
A Bersatu representative says a deal on a greater role is near (Malaysiakini).
Bersatu assemblymen who disagree were told they may quit (FMT).
Two outlets agree there is a pact in the works; no one has published its terms. Until then treat it as a report, not an agreement.
