Dangote refinery share offer, priced at N525, closes October 13

Dangote Petroleum Refinery is selling 4.1 billion new shares at N525 each, aiming for about N2.15 trillion, with the window running from September 14 to October 13 (Nairametrics, allAfrica, Engineering News, Intellinews, Cowrywise). The minimum is 10 shares, or N5,250, paid in full. The company may take up to 30 percent more with regulatory approval, and shares are to list on the Nigerian Exchange. Basis of allotment is expected around November 11.

A sale of this size could shift money between banks, the stock market and fixed income, and tests investor appetite for a company valued at about $47 billion.

Check the prospectus and the broker's fees before applying, and only apply through licensed brokers or banks. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose.

Backers say it offers ordinary investors a stake in a major local industry.

Sceptics ask about valuation and refinery output.
