Oil falls as IEA members agree to release diesel stocks first; WTI settles at $88.28

CNBC reported that oil fell on Wednesday after members of the International Energy Agency agreed to prioritise releasing diesel stocks. Brent settled about 38 cents lower at $100.20 and WTI at $88.28, down 1.30 percent.

Diesel drives transport, generators and farm costs, and Nigeria imports and refines it.

A diesel release can ease prices abroad; local diesel prices respond slowly.

Governments say stock releases calm markets.

Analysts say they are a temporary fix.

Price drops tied to stock releases fade unless supply returns.
