Moove confirms it is leaving Nigeria and will hand drivers full ownership of their cars
Moove announced the end of its Nigerian operations and the transfer of vehicles to customers (Arise, Business Post, WeeTracker, Launchbase Africa). It followed Uber's exit on September 2. Reports value the vehicles at about N35 billion and say no payments are due after October 1. Terms are to be confirmed.
Thousands of drivers earned their living through Moove-financed cars, and the exit shows how fragile a platform-linked business can be when currency and demand shift.
If you are a driver, confirm the transfer, insurance and registration in writing and keep records.
Moove says the transfer is a fair exit.
Drivers worry about maintenance, insurance and income without the platform.
Ownership without a platform is a mixed gift. Watch for how drivers find work.
