Nigerian markets did not trade over the weekend. BusinessDay reported weekly turnover of N158.29bn on the Nigerian Exchange in the first full trading week of October, as third-quarter earnings season begins. The Friday All-Share Index close was not confirmed. Tech Economy and GistReel reported the naira at about N1,329.34 per dollar on Friday. In New York, the S&P 500 closed at 7,811.54 (up 0.59 percent), WTI at $91.85 and gold at $4,216.3.

Earnings from banks and other listed companies move the local stock market, and the naira rate feeds fuel and import prices.

Investors should check Monday's NGX close before trading. Importers should watch the naira.

Monday's open will price in the weekend's fuel and oil news.
