Pump prices change Tuesday: gasoline up ₱1.93 a litre, diesel down ₱1.30, kerosene up ₱3.30
Gasoline prices rise by up to ₱1.93/L, diesel falls by up to ₱1.30/L and kerosene rises ₱3.30/L from October 6 (Rappler, Philstar). The weekly pass-through follows the previous week of Singapore benchmark prices. WTI settled at $89.43, down 1.84% on Monday, and gold at $4,156.8, down 0.13%. Iran says the strait stays shut until its conditions are met.
Fuel is a main driver of transport and food costs, and a split between gasoline and diesel changes who benefits.
Gasoline users pay more this week; diesel users, including jeepney, truck and bus operators, get a small break. Kerosene users face the biggest per-litre rise.
A diesel rollback eases freight costs a little and could help food prices.
A rising gasoline price and kerosene hike hit households, and the diesel cut may be temporary.
Watch Monday's industry forecast for next week; early signs point to another mixed adjustment. Diesel direction matters more for food prices than gasoline.
