Senate to probe Asian Games controversies, including Gilas Pilipinas's early exit
Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go, who chairs the Senate sports committee, will lead an inquiry into controversies around the Philippines' Asian Games participation under Proposed Senate Resolution No. 674, the Daily Tribune reported on October 7. Officials of the PSC, the POC and sports associations were invited to a hearing at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The main controversy: Gilas Pilipinas was eliminated after losses to Bahrain and China with a team of PBA players and no naturalised player. The Philippines finished 17th of 40 countries with four gold, nine silver and 16 bronze medals.
Public money and national pride are involved, and the hearing may shape how future teams are chosen.
