Marcos backs Mitsubishi’s $700-million Ayala stake and Vena Energy’s ₱52-billion expansion

During Marcos’s five-day working visit to Singapore, the president met Mitsubishi Corporation and Ayala Corporation executives about a planned $700-million Mitsubishi investment that would lift its Ayala stake from 4.7% to 15%. The Presidential Communications Office said Singapore-based Vena Energy plans a ₱52-billion expansion adding 1.29 gigawatts of renewable capacity over two years (Manila Times, PCO via Facebook). Marcos also sought a nuclear energy partnership with Singapore (Inquirer, GMA News).

Foreign capital in clean power and conglomerates supports growth at a time of 7.2 percent inflation and a weak peso.

More generation capacity can ease power supply, though bills depend on prices and grid costs.
