Sandiganbayan suspends Sen. Jinggoy Estrada anew for 90 days over a plunder case
The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division on Monday ordered a new 90-day preventive suspension of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada in a plunder case tied to alleged flood-control kickbacks, after an earlier 90-day suspension expired (Manila Times, GMA News, Inquirer). Inquirer linked the case to irregularities in ₱573 million worth of infrastructure projects at the Department of Public Works and Highways in 2025.
A preventive suspension keeps an accused official from using office while a case goes on. It is not a finding of guilt.
It shows the flood-control cases are moving through the courts. Nothing changes in services.
Estrada has not been convicted. Watch for appeals and for how the Ombudsman’s 35 cases at the Sandiganbayan progress.
