Bangsamoro lawmakers announce a 46-member coalition two weeks before the new Parliament sits
Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua announced a formal coalition of 46 members of the Bangsamoro Parliament, an 80-seat body, about two weeks before the end of the transition period (GMA News, Inquirer). A civil-society group backed MILF chair Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim as chief minister of the first regular Parliament (Inquirer). President Marcos congratulated the newly elected members and called the September 14 vote a milestone for peace and self-governance (Manila Times).
The coalition decides who leads the autonomous region’s government once the new Parliament sits. The vote was the first regular election after years of an appointed transition body.
If you live in or have family in the Bangsamoro region, the next step is the election of a chief minister by the Parliament.
A coalition on paper is not yet a government. Watch who is named chief minister at the inaugural session.
