Senate finance chair Ejercito questions a ₱206-billion realignment in the House’s ₱7.2-trillion 2027 budget
Sen. JV Ejercito, who chairs the Senate finance committee, questioned on Wednesday the reported realignment of about ₱206 billion in the House version of the proposed ₱7.2-trillion budget for 2027 (GMA News, Philstar). He said the Senate will scrutinise the reallocations and is ready to correct the House version if needed (Inquirer), and Rappler quoted him flagging “major changes.” BusinessWorld reported that senators eye approval of the budget in December amid concerns about spending.
A realignment moves money from one line of the budget to another, so it can change which projects get funded after the House has voted. The Senate is the next place where the figures can be reopened.
If a local project or agency you rely on lost or gained money in the House version, the Senate stage is where that can change.
Ask for a list of the realigned items. A single total of ₱206 billion says nothing about who gained and who lost.
