Rupee closes Friday at 277.07 to the dollar, gaining 3 paisa

The rupee closed at 277.07 per dollar in the interbank market on Friday 2 October, a gain of 3 paisa, Business Recorder reported. Open market rates quoted by the Forex Association of Pakistan were near Rs277.5 to buy and Rs278.1 to sell in similar sessions.

A stable rupee is central to the IMF programme and to import costs.

Imports and foreign travel cost about the same as last week.

A flat rupee under a 10% inflation rate means real depreciation pressure is being held back by policy.
