Swabi Interchange today: PTI’s promised “final plan” comes at the end of a march that has run for a week

The PTI march is due at Swabi on Sunday 11 October, where Afridi has said the party will unveil its final plan and has invited supporters from across the country (Dawn, The Express Tribune, ARY News, Minute Mirror). The Express Tribune reported, citing sources, that the Centre had finalised preparations for an emergency in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which PTI called a violation of the 18th Amendment. No order had been issued. The M-1 motorway is closed and containers have been placed on key routes.

Swabi is the last major point before the motorway corridor to Islamabad. The final plan will reveal whether PTI escalates or negotiates, and whether the Centre moves first.

Expect road closures and mobile disruption around Swabi, Mardan and the M-1 today.

PTI says it is on a peaceful constitutional march for Imran Khan’s release.

The government says it will not allow a march on Islamabad and holds the chief minister responsible for any violence.

By the end of today we will know whether the march has a destination. Judge it by the crowd at Swabi and by whether the final plan names Islamabad.
