Soldier killed and 12 militants dead as security forces foil infiltration bid from Afghanistan in Kurram, army says
ISPR said on 11 October that a soldier was killed and 12 militants were killed when security forces foiled an infiltration attempt across the Afghan border in Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dawn, Geo News, Pakistan Observer). Geo reported that Afghan Taliban personnel were among those killed and named the soldier as Naib Subedar Aman. A clearance operation continued.
It is the security backdrop the Centre cited for the emergency in KP, and it keeps the Pakistan–Afghanistan border tense.
Kurram’s roads and border crossings may see closures; travel there is risky.
The army says it is stopping cross-border terrorism and that the Afghan Taliban enable it.
Kabul has rejected such accusations before; PTI says its province is being blamed for what the Centre’s own policy failed to prevent.
Single-source numbers: only ISPR has spoken. Watch for any Afghan statement and for whether the Centre cites this clash in court.
