Markets: PSX reopens today after the KP emergency; Wall Street ended Friday higher and oil near $92
The KSE-100 closed at 167,089.27 on 9 October and the rupee at 277.00. In New York on Friday the S&P 500 closed at 7,811.54 (+0.59%), the Nasdaq at 27,366.17 (+0.64%), the Dow at 51,654.95 (+0.83%); WTI at $91.85 and gold at $4,216.3. Saudi stocks fell after the attack on Riyadh airport (Reuters).
Markets will price the political risk in KP and the Gulf escalation at once, and PSX opens first among them.
Savers holding rupee assets or Pakistani shares should expect volatility at the open.
A fall at the open would be about politics, not earnings. Watch the KSE-100 against its 165,867 low of last week and the open-market dollar rate.
