Sharif asks Europe for legal routes for skilled Pakistani workers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on Tuesday for more legal migration opportunities for skilled workers and professionals in European countries, saying safe and regular pathways could meet labour needs and make migrants less vulnerable to smugglers (Business Recorder). ANSA reported that Islamabad hosted a Pakistan–EU meeting and that Sharif and the EU’s Brunner agreed on migration and mobility, including efforts against human trafficking and safe, regular access channels.

Migration and trafficking are a priority for Europe, and remittances matter to Pakistan.

If you plan to work in Europe, use official channels only; none of the new pathways has been announced yet.

An understanding is not a programme. Watch for numbers: visa quotas, sectors and dates.
