MAS tightens financial roadshow rules: representatives must get consent before sales pitches

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) tightened rules on financial institutions’ public events, requiring representatives to obtain consent before sales pitches (CNA). It said inappropriate public prospecting can lead to concerns about “unsolicited or persistent solicitation”, and the Straits Times said street canvassing and door-to-door prospecting remain prohibited. DailyDrop has not seen when the rules start.

Pressure selling at roadshows can lead people to buy products they do not understand.

You can decline a pitch at a roadshow. Ask for the product’s fees and risks in writing before you sign.

Watch the start date and how MAS enforces it.
