Court bids to block South Africa's new speeding-fine system fail

BusinessTech reported on 5 October that bids to block the new speeding fines had failed. The AARTO system, under which more municipalities issue fines and a demerit scheme is planned, began its Phase 2 rollout on 1 July after a SALGA bid in the North Gauteng High Court failed (TimesLIVE, EWN, July). OUTA had filed a separate urgent bid on 15 July; DailyDrop did not find the ruling in a second outlet.

The system changes how and where fines are issued and how motorists can appeal them.

Check your fines on the official platform and keep your contact details up to date to avoid blocks on licence renewals.

One outlet on the latest ruling. DailyDrop will report details when a second source confirms.
