ANC's Constitutional Court bid over 181 excluded candidates slips a week
The ANC's urgent appeal to the Constitutional Court was set for Wednesday 7 October (TimesLIVE, BusinessDay, Briefly), but EWN reported on 5 October that the hearing had been pushed out by another week, so it is probably not today; DailyDrop has the new date, Monday 12 October, from one outlet only. The ANC says the "submit as final" click is not a legal requirement under section 14 of the Municipal Electoral Act, and the IEC says it cannot hold elections in the affected municipalities if the matter stays open.
The outcome decides whether the governing party appears on ballots in at least six municipalities, and the delay shortens the time left to print them.
