Record pump prices take effect today: petrol up R3.33 a litre, worse than forecasts

The October adjustment takes effect on Wednesday 7 October (IOL, Carmag, BusinessTech, Business Tech Africa). Petrol 95 rises R3.33 a litre and 93 rises R3.12, and diesel rises R2.84 to R3.24. One report said the increase was worse than the market had forecast. The Self-Adjusting Slate Levy rises to 87.66 cents.

Fuel feeds food and transport costs. Taxi operators and delivery firms may pass the cost on.

From today the pump shows a higher price. Plan trips and consider carpooling.

The earliest read on November comes from the Central Energy Fund data in mid-October.
