Zuma is expected to leave hospital, but accounts of his condition conflict
IOL reported on Monday that Jacob Zuma was expected to leave hospital that day and that a source close to him dismissed reports of a critical condition. SABC News quoted Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi saying Zuma was recovering well. Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said only his doctors can comment, with his consent (IOL). eNCA said he remained in hospital ahead of the MK Party's manifesto launch. The Citizen reported that the Foundation criticised President Ramaphosa, and SABC News carried a Foundation complaint about Nkandla. DailyDrop has not confirmed his discharge.
Zuma leads the MK Party, which is contesting the 4 November local elections. His health affects how the party campaigns and who might lead it, IOL and Financial Mail wrote.
Treat social-media claims about his health with caution. The only on-the-record statements come from the Foundation and the Presidency.
The Presidency says medical information is private and should be left to his doctors.
The Foundation says the state should show practical support, including at his Nkandla home.
Wait for a statement from his doctors or family before accepting any account. Whether he appears at the manifesto launch will be the clearest sign.
